Scania is a global company manufacturing trucks, buses, coaches and engines, with lorry parts ranging in size from a small washer up to a full size lorry cab. Its worldwide distribution centre in Opglabbeek, near Genk, Belgium required an adaptable mix of solutions for both storage and picking.

Dexion solution

Scania's worldwide distribution centre holds a wide range of Dexion Storage solutions for racking and picking. With warehouses typically 10m high, making the most of existing space was vital. As various warehouses have been added to the site over the years; Dexion has designed a range of customised storage systems to evolve with the expansion.

From outdoor galvanized racking for unfinished lorry cabs, to wide-aisle and narrow-aisle racking for bulk stock of parts, to multi-tier shelving systems for picking of individual items.

Scania, Case StudyThere are over 80,000 pallet locations inside the warehouse with Dexion racking. The solutions include:

  • P90 Wide Aisle 9000mm high, with beams up to 3600mm wide – allowing storage of 32 pallets per bay
  • P90 Narrow Aisle racking 9000mm high
  • HI280 multi-tier racking – 3 storeys high
  • P90 supported mezzanine – with 2-tier HI280 shelving above
  • Galvanised P90 racking – for lorry cab storage outside

Flexible, adaptable solutions allowing the Scania storage space to evolve, and enabling the company to continue to lead the industry as its parts are sent all over the world.
